For Bill and Cynthia 3D printing is really involved in their personal lives and their business activities. Cynthia, designs and 3D prints unique parts for her it’s a CYN!creatures, sculptures, and other art related objects. Bill is using the 3D printer to print tools or spare parts for personal use. He also uses 3D printing technology to print accessories for the hardware his company develops. Together, in 2015, they are taking 3D printers to a new level.
Taking 3D printing to a whole new level
In 2016 Bill and Cynthia are participating in the opening of a Fab Lab in the Gelderland Fabriek in Culemborg, NL. They will be doing workshops, 3D fabrication demonstrations and many more 3D related activities. The opening is scheduled for February 2016 for the full lab and a minilab will open soon.
Bill and Cynthia have a significant amount of experience with 3D design and fabrication. Before buying their personal 3D printer in 2012, Cynthia was introduced to 3D printing while she attended,
Waag Fab Labin Amsterdam, NL. The FELIX 1.0 was their first home printer and they continue to upgrade that original printer to the most recent FELIX 3.1.
Future use of 3D printing technology
They both see a bright future for 3D printing and they expect a huge change in the coming years, especially since usability for nonprofessionals continues to improve.
Bill and Cynthia see great opportunities for 3D printing in the future, “We think ‘customer support’ of the future is more about offering customers printable files of spare parts so they are able to replace parts of a machine themselves. A certain price can be asked for offering customers printable replacement files. A lot of money and natural resources can be saved on mass production and transportation.”
